Written by Cathy Shingler, illustrated by Neil Max Emmanuel

This exciting new book for children aged 6-11 years, tells the enthralling story of the more than 4000 gold objects in the Staffordshire Hoard.

On a visit to see the Hoard, Jess and Jim talk to the research and conservation team unravelling the mysteries of the Hoard. Saxon Gold is also the story of Anglo-Saxon Mercia when the Hoard was buried in a Staffordshire field. Written by Cathy Shingler who has guided many children and adults through the Hoard, Saxon Gold is full of wonderful graphics produced by illustrator Neil Max Emmanuel, well known for his work on the popular archaeology show Time Team on Channel 4.
